201 STAINLESS STEEL
With a certain degree of acid resistance, alkali resistance, high density, polished without bubbles, no pinholes and other characteristics, is the production of a variety of cases, straps bottom cover high-quality materials and so on. Mainly used to do decorative tube, industrial tube, some shallow stretching products.
201 is an austenitic, chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel originally developed to preserve nickel. It offers properties similar to, and can be used in, most Type 301 applications. The alloy is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, but becomes magnetic during cold working. The work-hardening rate is similar to Type 301, although Type 201 has a higher yield strength when cold-worked while maintaining the same ductility. Toughness at low temperatures is excellent. Typical uses include household appliances, restaurant equipment, cookware, sinks, automotive trim pieces, construction applications such as windows and doors, railroad cars, trailers and hose clamps.
PRODUCT FEATURES
Corrosion Resistant.
Type 201 should be an adequate substitute for Type 301 in most mild environments. Type 201 has less scale resistance than Type 301.Type 201 has a destructive scale resistance of up to 1500°F (816°C), which is approximately 28°F (301°C) less than Type 50.
Moldability
Type 201 can be fabricated by bench molding, roll forming, and brake bending in almost the same manner as Type 301. However, because of its greater strength, it may exhibit greater resilience. If more power is used and compression pressure is increased, the material can be stretched similarly to Type 301 in most stretching operations.
Weldability
It is generally recognized that austenitic stainless steels can be welded by ordinary fusion and resistance techniques. Special consideration needs to be given to avoiding weld “hot cracking” by ensuring the formation of ferrite in the weld. As with other chromium-nickel austenitic stainless grades with carbon not limited to 0.03% or less, the weld heat affected zone may become sensitive to intergranular corrosion in certain environments. The weldability of this particular alloy is generally considered to be inferior to that of the most common alloy of this stainless steel grade, 304L. When a weld filler is required, AWS E / ER 308 is most often specified.
